Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, for many false prophets have gone out into the world. (1 John 4:1)
A few years ago, I woke up to a pain in my arm and pain in my chest. In those days, I stayed out late and woke up later. But it was a little after six on a Saturday morning. The sky was just beginning to push the darkness aside, and there I was wide awake. I felt terrible inside and scared for my life. Do you think I called an ambulance first? No. Any God-fearing woman out there knows – I checked WebMD. My worst fears were confirmed: I was having a heart attack. A prayer marathon commenced. I prayed to live. Actually, my words were more like, “Please don’t let me die, Jesus.”
Needless to say, a trip to the ER revealed through thorough testing and investigation into my prior activities revealed the source of my issues: Too much fried food, too much alcohol, and too much ice cream. All of which my body didn’t quite agree with.
I was not dying. My prophecy was not Divine. ‘Twas false.
It’s not too far a stretch to see how this happens in our schools.
