Your dreams are waiting for you.
The things you see in your mind - that God has confirmed (like your slimmer or curvier body, your new career, your new home, your great relationship with your mother, your clear credit report, or your husband or wife,) are waiting for you to call them as though they were so and then wait for it.
Yes, we know all you saints saw yourselves having a better prayer life. We just didn't want to state the obvious. :-)
So now you're wondering, where do I start? What do I do? It's really quite simple.
You write it down.
Write it down? That's all you have?
Don't you come for me. Talk to God, because it's in His word.
The scripture says write the vision and make it plain on tablets. You see how God works? The original commandments were written on stone tablets on top of Mt. Sinai. But He knew that we'd be back to tablets. Heh.
So you get into your notes in the tablet and you write it down. Why? Because Habakkuk.
WRITE THE VISION; AND MAKE IT PLAIN ON TABLETS. THAT HE MAY RUN WHO READS IT. FOR THE VISION IS YET FOR AN APPOINTED TIME; BUT AT THE END IT WILL SPEAK, AND IT WILL NOT LIE. THOUGH IT TARRIES, WAIT OR IT. BECAUSE IT WILL SURELY COME, IT WILL NOT TARRY. - HABAKKUK 2:2-3 (NKJV)
A contract is legally binding because it states the terms that both parties are willing to accept and it is sealed wit ha signature. The contract states the name of the two parties involved. It also states the terms: This is what I want. This is the amount of time (term) you have to give me what I've requested or this is the recourse.
It doesn't work exactly like that with God, but it does have a similar feel.
With God, all we need to do it write down the desire of our hearts and wait on His instruction. Writing down our visions and plans creates a contract with Him. Father, this is what I really desire. If it's a vision from Him, God says, it is done.
Unfortunately, there is fine print: It will be done in His perfect timing.
Isn't it awesome that the only condition of God fulfilling our wishes is that we wait?
When we can see a vision in our minds, we have already created it. It's just up to God to manifest it.
All we have to do is wait (productively) with patience and with faith.
There are some things to note, however.
Side effects of asking for things for the wrong reasons include unanswered prayers, hater tendencies towards others, and the desire to turn away from God.When you ask, you do not receive because you ask with the wrong motives (James 4:3).
What does this look like?
To have a new ride so I can pull up in front of the club and everybody can see me and want to be my friend. (Nobody cares. And do you really want to be friends with people who will only pay attention to you until the next guy rolls up with a better car?)
To open a strip club because they make lots of money. (You can name the dancers Ruth, Naomi, Esther or Rachel, it still ain't righteous, boo.)
To have a husband so we can share these bills. (Check yourself. And get a roommate instead.)
Yea, ummm, no. Make sure that what you're asking for is in alignment with God. Make sure it honors Him. Make sure that you are listening when He speaks.
Your vision is real. Your dreams will come true.
